In our Children’s Dental Clinic Panama we welcome all children as well as all the family. Dentistry is important for children from an early age and although they will naturally lose their ‘milk’ teeth, regular checks will help them become familiar visiting the dentist and its surroundings.
‘Baby’ teeth start to appear from six to ten months and they play an important role as they help with the development of speech and chewing. By visiting Clínica Dental Champsaur we will be able to monitor the progress and health of your child’s teeth whilst also checking to see if there are any future problems before permanent teeth arrive.
Brush Teeth Properly
Our dentists will show and teach your child how to brush their teeth properly and will recommend the correct toothbrush and toothpaste to use. We advise all parents and guardians to encourage their children to brush at least twice a day. Regular supervision is recommended so by the age of 4 or 5 your child is brushing their own teeth correctly and at the right times.
The first dental appointment is all about understanding your child’ dental health and helping parents and guardians learn how best to help children achieve good oral health which also includes dietary advise.
As parents ourselves, we love meeting other children, however young, as they always brighten up our day! We feel that it’s important to introduce the children to the surroundings of a friendly dental surgery at an early stage (which is usually no later than 6 months after those tiny front teeth appear) although it’s never too late to start visiting us.
Provide advice for parents
However, the visits aren’t all about the children as we think it’s just as important to provide advice for parents/guardians on the best ways of caring for those precious little teeth. This includes tooth brushing and dietary tips as well as advice on habits such as thumb sucking, etc.
As they grow, we will introduce age-appropriate X-rays to check all surfaces of the teeth for any early signs of decay, and we encourage regular visits with our hygienists.
We can then help monitor your child’s dental development, providing advice, prevention and treatment if needed, as they make their journey through to their adult lives.
